Changing Your Look
Feb 01 2008 0 Comments
The newer trend toward having a different look during the ceremony than during the reception continues to be popular this year. Some brides even purchase two different dresses. If this appeals to you, a less expensive choice is to have cap sleeves or straps that attach to your dress for the ceremony. For the reception the straps can be removed to reveal a strapless gown. Another option is to give your hair style a new look. For instance, you might have an elegant updo during the ceremony and for the reception let your hair drape partially down. You might even opt for a change of jewelry. The classic pearl necklace is a great accessory for the formal wedding ceremony. With the reception being more of a party atmosphere you could add a touch of color to your jewelry with Swarovski crystal.

It’s a new year with new wedding colors taking the stage! Yellow and purple are the hot colors this year and brides are getting bold with them. The possibilities are endless with one of these two colors as the backdrop. Depending on how you combine them with other colors they can give a soft romantic ambiance or a vibrant party feel. Check out Better Homes and Gardens for examples of purple flowers combined with blue ones. Here are some other possible combinations:
Citrus combination: lemon, orange & lime
Spring combination: light yellow, orchid & white
Sophisticated combination: plum & silver
Countryside combination: lavender & raspberry

I came across this bridal gown designed by Jasmine the other day and just had to show it to you. It’s simple yet still very romantic. I love the way it drapes and has an old-world feel to it.

Bridesmaid Style

Just as the bride has her own individual style, so do the bridesmaids. Many brides are not only letting their bridesmaids choose which shoes they want to wear or how they’d like their hair, but even let them choose their own gown. Some may go sleeveless, wear straps or wear a halter style dress. Keeping the color and dress length the same helps to bring uniformity while still capturing the style of each girl. Another option is for each attendant to choose their own jewelry. The bride can choose a price range or a list of items they can choose from and let them decide which one they each would like. As long as they all wear the same color they should match nicely. This can be a lot of fun for the bridesmaids (who doesn’t love to shop, right?) who normally don’t have much say in what they will wear.
Flower Girl Jewelry

Flower girl jewelry has been a popular choice this year. It makes a great gift for that littlest member of the bridal party that she can treasure for years. You can find several styles geared specifically for young girls in the flower girl jewelry collection. In addition I can also adapt any piece of jewelry from the main collection to fit your flower girl.
Here are some suggested sizes when choosing your flower girl jewelry:
Bracelets
3-4 years: 5 1/2”
5-7 years: 6”
8-16 years: 6 1/2”
Necklaces
3-4 years: 12” (plus 2” extension)
5-10 years: 14” (plus 2” extension)
To get the best possible fit try to get measurements from the child’s mother if possible.

I just added a fabulous new necklace to the jewelry collection that I wanted to share with you. The Ellie Necklace features a beautiful filigree crystal pendant! I fell in love with this flower pendant and knew I had to use it in the latest design. This necklace is available in Crystal, Jet and Light Siam colors. If I were to get married again this would be the necklace I would choose!
Props to My Website Designer

I just want to thank David Joyce from Exit42 Design for his incredible work on the Emma’s Bridal website. I needed a website that required rather intricate programming to accommodate all of the customization options for the jewelry and David rose to the challenge! He was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend him to anyone needing a website designer!
Launch of New Blog

Welcome to the new Emma’s Bridal Blog! I’m looking forward to sharing my work with you! Jewelry making has always been a relaxing activity for me. I love working the wire, getting creative with color and finishing off all the fine details. There’s something satisfying about creating something beautiful for someone else to enjoy.
Just a little about me: I was born and raised in east Tennessee to a very creative family. My mother was good at making just about everything. Like her I tend to pursue anything that interests me with full force! As a child I owned a large collection of beads that my grandmother had passed down to me. Just looking at the many colors and shapes made me want to create! I made many funky bracelets and necklaces and wore them proudly. As an adult I again took up jewelry making when introduced to Swarovski crystal. The sparkle and beauty of the crystal enchanted me and I started making jewelry for gifts. After a while I decided to take my jewelry hobby and turn it into a business. I combined my interest in wedding style with my passion for jewelry design and Emma’s Bridal was birthed.
People often ask me who the Emma in “Emma’s Bridal” is so I’d like to explain. Emma is my dear little 3 1/2 year old daughter. I decided to name the business after her as she is an inspiration to me and the joy of my day. Everything is new and fresh and beautiful in her eyes.
